In October 2002, Iwona and I took our first trip together. We rented an apartment in Santa Theresa di Riva and for 3 very special weeks, and used it as our home base to explore a goodly chunk of Sicily. One of the first places we went was nearby Savoca, where The Godfather Part II was filmed. It had lost much of its rustic character (the move infused a lot of cash into the local economy and many buildings and infrastructures were upgraded), but it was charming nevertheless. The iconic café was preserved more or less as it was. Can you say "tourism"?
